Vanilla Ice Cream

Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients

- 2 cups heavy cream

- 1 cup whole milk

- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

- A pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Ice Cream Maker

Start by making sure your ice cream maker's freezer bowl is frozen. This typically takes 24 hours in the freezer.

2. Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and milk. Add the sugar and continue to whisk until it's fully dissolved. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

3. Chill the Mixture

Cover the mixture and refrigerate it for at least one hour. Chilling it helps the ice cream to freeze better in the machine.

4. Churn the Ice Cream

Follow your ice cream maker's instructions for churning the mixture. This usually takes about 15-20 minutes, and the ice cream will thicken and increase in volume.

5. Transfer to a Container

Once the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency, transfer it to an airtight container. You can add mix-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit at this point if desired.

6. Freeze

Place the container in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream hardens to your desired consistency.

7. Serve

Scoop your homemade vanilla ice cream into bowls or cones, and enjoy!

Variations

You can experiment with different flavors by adding ingredients like cocoa powder for chocolate ice cream, fruit puree for fruit-flavored ice cream, or coffee for a coffee-flavored treat.

Homemade ice cream is a delightful treat that allows you to customize flavors and ingredients to your liking. Enjoy your homemade vanilla ice cream, and don't hesitate to get creative with different flavor additions and toppings to make it your own.
